invite and to be invited

Steveo and the boy have birthdays in March.  I have decided to plan a joint birthday party with the theme being superheros.  Steveo has not heard of this idea. I'm sure he will cringe at the thought of wearing tights!!!  Pondering over the party made me think of  the role of the host and the guest:

Host- Your job is to make everyone feel welcome.  One feels welcome when your home is inviting with candles, flowers and food.  Offer a drink, take a coat, make sure their bellies are full and the children are happy. Try to make conversation with all invited and say good-bye and thank yous for coming.  My favorite memory over Christmas was family members having to opt for eating around my coffee table.  No one seemed to care.  I think everyone just felt welcome !




Guest- As a guest I always feel grateful for someone opening their home for me.  I know the hard work that goes into planning, cooking and cleaning to prepare for quests.  I always offer to bring something, help clean up ( just because you don't have to cook that night doesn't mean the cook should do all the dishes) and eat bites of food prepared even if you had a huge breakfast burrito!!!  Want to give a gift to the host? The best hostess gift given is an invite to your home, every cook likes the day off!!!!
